Annual Grey Lynn festival cancelled
Wild weather forecast forces 'tough decision'
Auckland's annual Grey Lynn Park Festival has been cancelled because of tomorrow's "miserable" forecast.
Organisers posted a message on the event's website saying the trust board had to make "really tough decision."
"The weather heading to Auckland is going to be relentless and Saturday is going to be miserable, not what anyone wants for a festive occasion. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year and we will see you all next year."
The free event has run for the past 29 years and offers live music with food, clothing and jewellery stalls.
In the past the event has attracted about 100,000 people.
The Waitakere Lions fireworks display which was also due to take place on Saturday has been postponed.
The $80,000 display of pyrotechnics and lasers will now take place on December 22 at Trust Stadium in Henderson.
The show, which attracted about 15,000 people last year, has already been delayed once due to bad weather.
More details will be released closer to the new date.
