Auckland lawyer faces drink driving charge
An Auckland barrister saw things from a different perspective when he appeared in Auckland District Court this morning charged with drink driving.
Fijian-born Satendra Prakash Singh, 60, was charged with careless driving and driving with excess blood alcohol after police caught him on Church St, Onehunga, in July.
Singh gave a reading of 144 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood - nearly twice the legal limit.
Singh, who caused momentary confusion in court today when he explained he was both counsel and accused, was remanded at large without plea until next month.
He refused to speak about the charges after leaving the court room.
