Three fires spark arson inquiries
Police are investigating two suspected arson attacks after three fires in South Auckland overnight.
The fire service was called to the first blaze at Rotoma Rise, Clover Park, at 9pm where a two-storey house went up in flames.
Although the cause of the blaze is yet to be determined, fire service spokeswoman Nicole Bernard said it was not deemed suspicious.
At 12.15am they attended a "small bedroom fire" on Leaver Pl, Weymouth, and just over an hour later, crews were sent to a double garage fire in Otahuhu.
Bernard said the two later incidents were suspected arson attacks and it was fortunate no-one was injured.
Police Inspector Ian Brooker said investigators would examine the suspected arson scenes with the fire service today.
