A 20-year-old woman was indecently assaulted by a teenager and set upon by several others as she walked through Otara last night.

The woman was walking between Clayton Ave and East Tamaki Rd around 7pm when she noticed a teenager approaching her from behind on a bike.

The male, described as being Maori and aged 16-17, asked the woman for her name and cellphone number but when she shunned his advances he became aggressive.

He then asked her to perform a sexual act on him and when she declined he grabbed her and indecently assaulted her.

As the woman tried to pull away she saw three other teenagers on push bikes who also joined the fray and pushed her to the ground.

Before anything more serious occurred, the teenagers pedalled away and police were called.

When recalling the incident to police the woman suffered an epileptic seizure and was taken to hospital.

Police tracked down four teenagers on bikes in the area and photographed them but are yet to show them to the victim to identify.
