A suspicious forest fire north of Auckland is now under control.

Emergency services responded the blaze in Dome Valley, just north of Warkworth, about 3pm today.

A Northern Fire Communications spokeswoman said two helicopters and 14 fire appliances fought the fire, which covered a 150m by 50m area in the forest.

"The fire has now been contained."

Fire investigators were treating the fire as suspicious, she said.
