A life-sized corpse and a two-metre long giant Roman bed were among Spartacus memorabilia snapped up at auction over the weekend.

One buyer shelled out $3600 for a stand of rubber swords from the popular American TV show.

A Lucretia's box of assorted jewellery went for $1050 and a life-sized corpse complete with storage box sold for $650.

Other odd props which sold for a handsome price included a replica of a dead horse that fetched $600 and a burnt severed head which went for $525.

More than 600 props went under the hammer, marking the end of the production's time in New Zealand.

"It went really, really well. It's virtually all gone," Webbs auction house general manager Chris Allsop said.

"It was crazy busy, there were bidders from all over the world."

Around 150 bidders attended, with 150 more bidding online from as far away as the United States, England and China.

They were a combination of avid fans, collectors and production industry people.

One couple just wanted a large Roman bed for their home, though they were uncertain how it would fit through the door, Allsop said.

"It was nine feet long and four feet high, you would have to climb onto it."

He wouldn't divulge the total amount fetched at the auction, but said the sellers were "pleased".

Four seasons of the show have been filmed in Auckland, with the final instalment, War of the Damned, set to screen early next year. Earlier this year it was announced this would be the last series.

Spartacus stars Liam McIntyre as the Thracian-slave-turned-revolutionary who's out to topple the Roman Empire. McIntyre took over the role from Andy Whitfield, who starred in the first season, then withdrew due to illness. He died of cancer in September 2011.
