A burglar armed with a pistol was unmasked by his victim when robbing a West Auckland service station last week.

The man, who was wearing a balaclava, demanded money from the attendant at the GAS Service Station on Swanson Rd, last Thursday at 7.55pm.

Police said the offender got into a fight with the attendant and during the scuffle his balaclava was pulled off.

Police have released pictures of the robber who was caught on security cameras.

He is described as a chubby Polynesian, with short black hair and a goatee beard, and about 170cm tall. The man was wearing a blue and white stripped top with beige pants.

He fled the scene in a purple or burgundy 90s Holden Commodore Sedan which was last seen in the Massey area.
