Missing swimmer's body found in lake

The body of a missing Auckland man has been recovered from a lake near Bethells Beach.

Police say local resident Grant Robert Faulkner, 50, disappeared following an early morning swim at Lake Wainamu on Sunday.

A search began after friends and family were unable to see Faulkner in the water when they returned to shore.

Faulkner, who is married and lives in the area, was found just after 12pm by a search and rescue team, Waitakere police Sergeant Paul Zderich said.

An autopsy will be completed either later today or tomorrow and the case will be referred to the coroner.
