A Manurewa man has been remanded in custody after being charged over a suspected drug-related shooting in suburban Auckland.
Samson Paul Opetaia, 29, appeared in the Auckland District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and using a firearm to cause grievous bodily harm.
The charges relate to an incident in Mt Albert on December 8 but police say Opetaia is also linked to three other shooting incidents.
A police release his morning said the other three incidents occurred at Hayr Rd, Three Kings, on November 13 and 27, and at upmarket Seymour St, St Mary's Bay, last Wednesday.
During the first incident at Hayr Rd a 51-year-old man was shot in the leg and a BMW sedan was stolen from the property.
The victims in the Seymour Rd incident last week - a man and woman - have refused to tell police what happened, but neighbours said the woman living at the address fell backwards from a window and was caught by the man she lived with.
The pair were then seen running up the road with two intruders in pursuit.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton, of Avondale CIB, said Opetaia was arrested this morning after the Armed Offender's Squad searched two properties in Manurewa.
Sutton said no firearms were found at the properties but investigations were continuing and further arrests were possible.
