Accused in court over sex attack
A man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a woman in West Auckland is expected to enter a plea next week.
Cortney Smyth, 21, appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday where he was remanded in custody.
No application for bail was made.
It is alleged the Papakura labourer abducted a woman from Lynn Mall as she was leaving work on December 7 last year.
Smyth also faces four charges of sexual violation, threatening to kill the woman and robbing her of a mobile phone and wallet while armed with a knife.
He will reappear in court to enter a plea next week.
