Firefighters have doused a blaze in central Auckland this morning.

Emergency services were called to a fire at a "worker's hut" on Union St about 5am.

Fire service spokesman Jaron Phillips said the fire at the single-storey prefab was "well involved" but was quickly put out.

It's not known if the fire was suspicious.

Fire investigators were at the scene this morning trying to determine the cause of the fire.
