Man admits mall sex attack
A man has admitted sexually assaulting a woman and threatening to kill her after he abducted her from a West Auckland shopping mall.
Cortney Smyth, 21, pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawfully taking a woman with the intent of having sex with her in the Auckland District Court on Tuesday.
He also pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual violation, threatening to kill the woman and robbing her of a mobile phone and wallet while armed with a knife.
The Papakura labourer abducted the woman from Lynn Mall as she was leaving work about 6pm on December 7.
The victim was not known to Smyth, who has been remanded in custody until sentencing in April.
