A cyclist in his mid 40s is in a serious condition in hospital after a collision with a car at a North Shore intersection this morning.
Acting Sergeant Constable Gary Morgan said the man was conscious but had a sore back and a bad cut on his leg. He was taken to North Shore Hospital.
Morgan said the cyclist was heading towards Takapuna through the intersection at Kitchener Rd and Omana Rd when there was a collision with a right-turning BMW convertible.
The road was closed while the police serious crash unit examined the crash scene, but was reopened by 9am.
