Pair in court over assault death
Two men have appeared in court over the "unexplained" death of an Auckland man on Monday night.
Jason Macrockyn Tafutu, 19, and Simona Liatoa, 36, appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday charged with assaulting Michael Rapata, also known as Michael Roberts.
Roberts, 48, died at his Three Kings home about 7pm.
An autopsy is being carried out and police are treating the death as "unexplained".
It's not yet known whether the accused will have their charges upgraded.
Police are still seeking a third person in relation to the death.
Both men were remanded in custody with Liatoa to reappear before the court for a bail hearing next Thursday.
Tafutu will next appear on March 5.
