A chicken-fat spill has closed an Auckland road while the mess is cleaned up and environmental damage assessed.
The truck carrying the fat tipped in Hingaia Rd, Karaka, south of Auckland just after 2pm.
Police say the road will be closed until at least 7pm.
It was earlier thought it would reopen at 5pm.
"The closure is necessary due to the need for contractors to clear the spillage and avoid environmental damage," police said.
Drivers were asked to take an alternative route if possible and to be patient with the people at the scene "who are doing their best to open the road as soon as possible".
