Transport museum hosts 111 day

Firefighters, ambulance officers and police officers will be on hand this Sunday for Emergency 111 Live Day.
Visitors to Motat will have the chance to meet emergency services volunteers, see restored fire engines and meet the men who feature in the 2010 firemen’s calendar.
The New Zealand Police, New Zealand Fire Service and St John Ambulance service are all taking part in the day which will have safety activities and fun events.
Car enthusiasts will be able to check out the collection of vintage fire engines, ambulances and police cars.
Calendar firefighters will make a guest appearance and visitors can purchase a firemen’s calendar for $10, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the Child Cancer Foundation.
Motat events co-ordinator Bridgette Johanson says kids will have a blast and can participate in activities like fingerprinting, first aid and costumed photo opportunities.
"Any child who has dreamed of being a fire fighter or police officer will be right in their element this Sunday."
