A March for Democracy is set to take place this Saturday in protest at what organisers are calling a lack of action after the anti-smacking referendum.

Organiser Colin Craig says the government has ignored the 87 percent of people who voted for a change in the smacking law earlier this year.

He says the previous government ignored two citizens-initiated referenda, which saw 92 percent of people vote for tougher penalties on criminals and the 82 percent who voted for fewer MPs.

The march starts at the bottom of Queen St on Saturday from 1.30pm.
