A family whose laptop filled with precious memories was stolen are appealing for their photos to be returned.
Vanessa Mutu says all the photos of her 15-month-old daughter were on the computer, along with pictures of relatives who have recently died.
Thieves broke into the Westmere house between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Monday by using a crowbar to open a patio door and managed to evade the alarm sensors and get into the room where the laptop was.
Other items like a watch and an iPod were also taken.
"We don’t care about the laptop, we just want the photos back," she says.
Mrs Mutu was planning to make albums of her daughter as Christmas presents but hadn’t made backup copies of the pictures.
"Three people have passed away in the last 15 months and all the photos of them with our baby are gone."
She says whoever took the laptop can put the photos on to CDs or memory sticks and return them, no questions asked.
A reward will be offered for their return.
Anyone with information can contact Mrs Mutu on 027-5577-661 or the central Auckland police station on 302-6400.
