Now is the time to speak up for those wishing to have a say on Auckland's public transport.

As part of the Regional Land Transport Strategy, which was recently launched for consultation, the Auckland Regional Transport Authority is also calling for opinions on the draft regional public transport plan.

The authority released the draft last Thursday and submissions close December 24.

Authority general manager of strategy and planning Peter Clark says the strategy calls for a significant increase in public transport investment over the next decade and beyond.

"There will always be limitations on the amount of public funds that are available for transport initiatives and the need to prioritise how those funds will best be spent."

Mr Clark says key priorities for the region are integrated ticketing, a competitive market for public transport and an integrated network of services.

The transport plan can be found at libraries and councils or at www.arta.co.nz, written submissions can be emailed to draftrptp@arta.co.nz.
