Family fun day a blast

Thanks Auckland.
That's the message from the Mad Butcher and Suburban Newspapers Community Trust as it closes the door on another great year.
The trust gave away over half a million dollars this year - money raised by Suburban Newspapers readers right across the region.
It said thank you this month with its annual family fun day at Ellerslie.
Thousands turned up for a fun packed free day of entertainment, complemented by a barbecue put on by the Mad Butcher and long time trustee Sir Peter Leitch.
''Every dollar we raise goes straight back to the people who need it," trust chairman David Penny says.
"This fun day is an opportunity for us to say thankyou to all of our readers on a job well done and wish them all a happy and safe festive season."
