Police are seeking a man involved in a string of indecent assaults.
Avondale Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Florence says the same person may be behind at least four of six assaults that occurred in Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, and Freemans Bay since 2012.
In each case a lone woman was approached and spoken to by a man before being grabbed and indecently assaulted.
Four of these happened in the early morning between 2am and 4am.
"People can reduce the risk of becoming victims of some crimes by walking in well-lit areas where possible, remaining aware of your surroundings by avoiding distractions like ear phones, and staying with friends or getting a safe ride home if it's late," Mr Florence says.
There have been some discrepancies between each woman's description of the man, however, police are seeking more information about a light-skinned Maori or Polynesian man in his late teens or early 20s, of slight build, short, with noticeably big eyes and short hair.
The first known assault happened on November 2, 2011 near Hepburn St, Freeman's Bay at 4.45am.
Another occurred on Richmond Rd near Jessel St, Grey Lynn at 6.20pm on January 9, 2013.
The Auckland City Harbour News reported on a case where a young man of a similar description exposed himself to a woman near the same spot on Richmond Rd at 2pm on January 8 this year.
It is not clear if this case is also linked to the recent incidents.
Mr Florence asks anyone with information to contact Detective Constable Martin Friend by email on email@example.com or phone 213 8484.
