RARE GLIMPSE: Artist Xoe Hall creates street art.

More walls on the K' Rd strip will be transformed into canvases for some of the country's best street artists next month.

The All Fresco street art festival will see nine artists make over a designated site as the event returns for its second year from May 2 to 4.

"There's a bit of mystery in how large art is created and, if you're interested in the how of an artist's work method, All Fresco is like having an open studio," curator Ross Liew says.

The inaugural festival was plagued by three days of rain, so the artists have been chosen based on their skill and experience dealing with large scale, outdoor sites.

Onlookers will see Auckland's Tanja Jade, formerly known as Misery, Mt Maunganui's Owen Dippie and Wellington's BMD duo.

All Fresco will kick off with an exhibition of participating artists' studio work in conjunction with K' Rd's late night art event First Thursdays on May 1.

Renowned street artist Jonny 4Higher will lead free guided tours of 20 street art sites on May 3 and 4 starting at the corner of Upper Queen St and K' Rd from 1pm to 3pm.

Bookings for the tours are essential. Email planning@ or phone 377 5086 to book.
