Governance software maker Diligent Board Member Services has appointed former NZX chief executive Mark Weldon to its board.
The announcement comes two weeks after Weldon handed over the reins of the local sharemarket operator to Tim Bennett, saying then that he would settle down at his South Island vineyard to plan his next move.
In a statement today, Diligent said Weldon's experience would be ''extremely useful to our company as we continue to grow and expand our business''.
Diligent is poised to expand into the US, Europe and Asia.
Before the NZX, Weldon was a lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slade, Meagher & Flom in New York, and a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. He holds a masters in law from Auckland University and a degree from Columbia University School of Law.
Diligent shares rose 1.8 per cent to $3.41 in early trade, and have gained 179 per cent over the past 12 months.
