The St Lukes Community Association has been fundraising to cover costs for an upcoming battle with retail giant Westfield.
The association is against proposed plans from Westfield to significantly increase the size of the St Lukes mall.
Aroha Ave resident Graham Dekker says $3700 was raised from three garage sales last weekend, which will go towards a panel of hearing experts.
He says residents recently met with Auckland mayor John Banks who was sympathetic to their concerns.
A hearing date has yet to be set.
