Christmas tree decorating is one of the most long-held yuletide traditions for us Kiwis, and this year families have the chance to get together in the outdoors, wrap a tree in baubles and sparkles and express what Christmas really means to them.
The Tree Decorating Fiesta encourages imaginations to run wild, as kids choose their own baby trees and spruce them up with provided materials, which can be shared or swapped amongst other decorators.
Every tree completed will win a prize, and can then be carried home to take pride of place in your family's Christmas hub.
This seasonal treat, previously held in 2010, is back by popular demand and will once again see the Village Green on Essex Street blossoming with decorated Christmas trees.
The Tree Decorating Fiesta will not only raise awareness for the Maxine van der Velden Memorial Charitable Trust, but all donations for the Christmas Trees will raise funds for this scholarship offered to talented young people all over the Auckland region.
Nothing beats a real Christmas tree, especially when it's connected with such a worthy cause.
When: Saturday 1st December (12pm - 1pm)
Where: Village Green, Essex Street Reserve, Mt Eden
Donation: $10 per tree and for materials provided
