No adults allowed.
That's the theme for the Muka Youth Prints exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery this weekend.
Every year Ponsonby-based Muka Gallery holds exhibitions across the country where only youngsters aged between 5 and 18 can enter the show and buy works.
Youth Prints was started in 1997 to introduce children to the joys of owning a piece of art.
Lithographic prints from prominent artists from New Zealand and abroad are on display for viewing by the kids, and can be bought for the uniform price of $65.
Artists' signatures are covered so children make their decisions without being influenced by big names. The included works reflect the normal style and concerns of the artists, there is no patronising or "talking down" to children.
Muka Youth Prints is at the Auckland Art Gallery in the Members Lounge on level 2, from December 1 to 3, 10am to 5pm.
