Beach lovers can easily find the country's best beaches with the locations of beach and surf life saving clubs displayed on an online national mapping system.
The free walking access mapping system, developed by the New Zealand Walking Access Commission, allows users to find publicly accessible land on nationwide topographical and aerial maps.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand is the latest organisation to make its outdoor information available.
The locations of all beaches with an on-site surf life saving club will be displayed on the maps. Users can then access further information on Surf Life Saving New Zealand's own website including photos and tidal, weather, fishing and surfing conditions at any given beach.
The beach information will help increase awareness of some of the best coastal outdoor access opportunities in the country and has the potential to save lives as people are able to find safe swimming beaches easily.
The Department of Conservation and Fish and Game New Zealand are among other organisations to harness the mapping system.
