About the Central Leader

In 1963 Suburban Newspapers bought up a string of small community newspapers including the Mt Albert Enterprise, the Roskill Times, Onehunga News, Pt Chevalier News and the Mt Eden News and merged them into one title. Thus, the Central Leader, aimed primarily at tapping into the advertising potential of the new St Lukes mall, was born.
