Auckland dairy robbed at knifepoint
A dairy owner tried to wrestle a knife from a thief during a robbery in Auckland involving four men.
Police said the group entered the Highway Dairy on Mt Wellington Highway around 5.30pm on Monday and one threatened the owner with a knife.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Kathy Bostock said the owner initially tried to grab the wrist of the man armed with a knife, but with the other three intruders in the shop, eventually gave up.
The men stole cash and fled on foot.
Bostock said they were followed through Van Damm's reserve by a member of the public but then disappeared.
A police dog was unable to pick up the trail.
"The owner was left very shaken," Bostock said.
"But fortunately no-one was injured."
Glen Innes CIB want anyone in the area of 120 Mt Wellington Highway between 5.15pm and 5.45pm on Monday to contact them if they saw anything suspicious.
