The Outboard Boating Club in Orakei raised $5500 for Westpac Rescue Helicopter in a fishing competition.
Members hit the water on March 1 to fish for charity. A great selection of prizes donated by local sponsors was up for grabs. The club also ran auctions and raffles.
"We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the Outboard Boating Club and their sponsors for putting on this event for us and digging deep to keep our choppers in the air," trust fundraiser John Hooper says.
Last year chopper trust crews attended 923 missions in Auckland and the Gulf Islands. Incidents so far this year have included a patient in cardiac arrest in Mission Bay, a motor vehicle accident near Parnell Baths, a collapsed runner on Tamaki Drive and a person who fell from a container ship.
