An early childhood centre in Kohimarama is celebrating an important milestone this weekend.
The Carol White Family Centre which is part of Refugee Education for Adults and Families (REAF) at Selwyn College has reached its 10 year anniversary.
Current and past students and families of both the language school and childcare centre are invited to attend the party on March 29 in the REAF community garden from 3pm till 6pm.
The same day marks the 80th birthday of Roy Clements, one of the foundation teachers of the REAF programme.
The centre receives funding from the Ministry of Education. Without this support, running the language classes would be challenging, REAF director Margaret Chittenden says.
"Many of our students have young children. One of the biggest barriers to learning is the childcare issue. That barrier has been removed by providing free, quality childcare."
Guests are invited to bring a plate for afternoon tea.
