The annual Farmers Santa Parade is undoubtedly one of the biggest events of the festive season and this year's 79th show will be no exception. the parade is taking place on Sunday November 25 at 2pm.
Expect to see a new Christmas Train making its way down Queen Street, and chocolate-obsessed Willie Wonka, who will feature on a new float with all his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory friends.
An amazing line up of characters and celebrities are set to walk in the parade, including Care Bear's Cheer Bear, Sid and Scrat from Ice Age, Ben 10, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Spot the Dog, Peter Rabbit and characters from The Wizard of Oz means there is something to entertain and enchant every member of the family.
Add to this Santa's Party after the parade featuring performances by the New Zealand Army Band, Donell Lewis, Jamie McDell and more and you've got yourself one heck of a Christmas party.
There are also rides, stalls, face-painting, celebrities, giveaways and, of course, a special visit by the big man in red as well.
This year's Farmers Santa Parade charity is Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand and collectors will be walking around collecting so m,ake sure you have a gold coin ready to pop in a donation bucket.
The Farmers Santa Parade is an Auckland Christmas tradtion so make sure you head into town for some jolly festive fun!
The 2.2 km parade route starts on Mayoral Drive, turns left into Queen Street, travels down Queen Street
before turning left again into Customs Street West then heading up Albert Street, ending at Albert and
All inner city roads are closed between 12 noon and 4pm on Sunday 25 November 2012. People
are advised to get into the city before 12 noon to avoid frustration with traffic and parking.
1:00 pm: Pre-parade entertainment, product sampling and giveaways along the parade route
2:00pm: Farmers Santa Parade begins
3:15pm: Santa’s Party kicks off in Aotea Square
