A council committee will decide on the burnt-out Guy Homestead tomorrow.

The dilapidated heritage building on Ti Rakau Dr was largely destroyed in an arson attack on December 1.

Huntington Park Residents and Ratepayers Association president Alan Davis asked the Howick Local Board at its monthly meeting on February 11 what was going to happen to the "eyesore".

Councillor Dick Quax told Mr Davis the homestead was discussed in the confidential section of Auckland Council's parks, recreation and heritage forum on February 5.

"What I can tell you is that there is some action of council about the homestead, about the surrounding land. That's all I can tell you," he said.

"There's some commercial sensitivities around this area."

Mr Quax says the forum has made a recommendation to the council's regional development and operations committee which meets on February 21.
