Voters will be in different electorates
Proposed changes to electorates mean half of growing Ormiston is in Botany and the other half in Hunua.
The Hunua electorate is overpopulated so the Representation Commission says 3800 Flat Bush residents should be reassigned to Botany.
Representation Commission chairman Bernard Kendall says the commission reviews boundaries to ensure there is a similar number of people in each electorate.
"Where possible we have tried to retain existing electorate boundaries and avoid splitting communities," he says.
People have until 10am December 23 to review the proposed boundaries and make an objection.
The boundaries are reviewed after each census and North Island general electorates must vary no more than 5 per cent from a quota of 59,731 people.
There is no proposal to change the boundaries of the Pakuranga electorate.
