The Warriors have once again managed to succumb to the pressure and falter in the back end of the season.
A month ago they were being touted as the team that no one would want to meet in the finals but in a few short weeks they have thrown away all the good work they did. It seems all but impossible that they will make the top eight.
I didn't catch the game yesterday but by all accounts the boys lacked intensity and let Penrith dominate the middle stages of the game.
Once again our edge defence was targeted and it leaked 22 unanswered points after being up 12-0.
Every season we have the worst edge defence in the competition and nothing is ever done about it.
Why aren't we hammering proper defensive structures into our young centres?
We now sit 13th on the ladder, an equal 22 points with Penrith and the Cowboys. The Broncos are in 10th with 23 points while the Raiders and Titans both sit on 24.
For us to make the eight we need to win the next 3 games and hope other results go our way.
We face the Titans in the Gold Coast this week, followed by the Raiders at Mt Smart and we meet the Dragons in our last game of the regular season.
It's not the hardest road to the finals but both the Raiders and Titans will be playing to secure a top eight berth as well.
It's a disappointing and avoidable predicament we have found ourselves in but there is still hope.
And you know what they say..... It's a matter of faith.
