A Chorus telecommunications fault has meant some businesses and homes on Auckland's south west coast have been without phone lines since the weekend.
The outage has occurred at Awhitu, which has a population of more than 2500 people.
A Chorus spokesperson confirmed the fault was being worked on and said it was hoped to be fixed as soon as possible, though no exact timeline could be given.
The fault lay with a Chorus cabinet which was part of the company's infrastructure and needed a new part to repair.
Chorus estimated 400 people were without their telephone connections and about 50 were without internet connections.
Awhitu businesses are reportedly angry about the outage saying it has affected phone lines, internet and Eftpos services.
