A local student has become the youngest ever winner of an Auckland-wide piano competition.
Delvan Lin, a year 9 King's College student, took out the Ronisch Auckland Secondary Schools Piano Competition late last month.
The award was presented by classical pianist Michael Houston who says Delvan played with incredible maturity and technical flair.
The teen has an "unrivalled connection" with both instrument and audience, Mr Houston says.
King's College head of music Paul West says the Ronisch competition is the biggest of his kind.
"Delvan played superbly to take out the prize," he says.
