Play spaces on the way

Flower petal seats are just one idea that could be used to brighten up Otara's town centre.
A group of professionals called Guerrilla Playspaces put their vision to create the playspace to Auckland Council staff earlier this month.
A series of short-term installations will be built in selected town centres. Some of the fun additions include yellow pipe couches and pop-up mazes.
It has not been decided which design will be used in Otara's town centre.
Guerrilla Playspaces member Luke Krieg says the group wants to snap Aucklanders out of their daily routine and give them something unexpected to stumble upon.
"We saw these great spots going under-used and just wanted to change them into fun, playful areas if only for a short time," he says.
Many playspaces will be popping up around the Auckland town centres from this month.
"It's about giving Aucklanders a feeling of ownership over their public spaces, making them places to enjoy instead of just places to work or shop," Mr Krieg saus.
Guerilla Playspaces is a project of the committee of Auckland's Future Auckland Leaders programme.
The initiative taps into the energy of Auckland's emerging leaders and their passion for the city.
Fletcher Construction and Resene are sponsoring with construction of the new additions.
