A young man is fighting for his life after his car and a truck collided in Hawke's Bay this morning.The accident happened on Stock Rd near Hastings at about 9:30am.

It appeared the car lost control on a corner and crossed the centre line, hitting the south-bound truck, Senior Sergeant Fleming said.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a man in his 20s, was in a critical condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital.

The driver and passenger of the truck were traumatised but unhurt, Fleming said.
