Police are searching a new subdivision development on Auckland's North Shore in their bid to find missing Auckland woman Cissy Chen, who is believed to have been killed.

Police have launched a homicide investigation and are speaking to a man after an Auckland accountant disappeared 12 days ago.

Officers, including the dog squad, were at the site of the Long Bay development off Beach Rd this afternoon.

Chen, an accountant, has not been seen since Monday, November 5 when she reportedly went for a walk from her Torbay home.

Her partner told police the 44-year-old often went for walks on Long Bay beach but on that Monday she did not return.

Police today announced her disappearance was the subject of a homicide investigation. They are yet to find her body.

Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie, of North Shore CIB, said a forensic examination had started at a house in Torbay and a man, believed to be Chen's partner, was assisting officers with their investigation.

Chen's partner earlier told police she often went for walks on Long Bay beach but on that Monday she did not return.

Despite police land, sea and air searches and a public appeal last week, no trace of Chen has been found. There have been no public sightings.

Yesterday Goldie said police were still working on the case, with a lot of people still to talk to.

"If we get new information we will start the physical search again. But at this stage we have run out of places to look," Goldie said.

Chen was described as a Chinese woman of medium build and 1.56m tall. She was last seen wearing dark trousers - possibly blue jeans - and a white fleece top.
