Flight of the Conchords star Bret McKenzie has been nominated for a Grammy award for his Oscar-winning track Man or Muppet.

McKenzie's song, written for The Muppets movie, is up for "best song written for visual media".

Also nominated in McKenzie's category is Abraham's Daughter from The Hunger Games, Learn Me Right by Mumford & Sons from Brave, Let Me Be Your Star from Smash and Safe & Sound From The Hunger Games.

McKenzie was musical supervisor on The Muppets last year.

He won a Grammy award with Jemaine Clement in 2007, had roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and in the new Hobbit movie, and has played in various Wellington bands, including The Black Seeds.
