The new show to replace Close Up will be called Seven Sharp, Television New Zealand has announced.

It is not known what format the show will take but it is expected to start sometime early next year.

Making the announcement on Twitter, TVNZ was coy about the details.

"We'll let you into a little secret - our new 7pm show is called SevenSharp. What is it, you ask? You'll just have to wait and see."

The new name however has already caused much discussion on the social networking site.

A user named Luke asked "Seven Sharp? Did the producer's daughter come up with that"

Broadcasting journalist Barry Soper said " Yeah well just hope Seven Sharp doesn't become known as the SS! " TVNZ spokeswoman Megan Richards said the name of the show had been confirmed however it was too early to say how the show might look.
