Forecast points to a less-than-white Christmas
Kiwis can expect to celebrate this Christmas in warm weather if early predictions are anything to go by.
MetService’s Peter Kreft said the weather analysts are yet to take a good look at what the 25th will bring, but the 10-day forecast showed positive signs for heat, if not blue skies. Kreft said the service would make a statement about Christmas weather soon.
But at this stage, Aucklanders may not open presents under blue skies, but the city could have a high of 24-degrees Celsius and overnight low of 17C.
Residents may also see a few showers with easterly winds.
In Hamilton, there could be a couple of showers with a little wind. A high of 25C was expected, with an overnight low of 13C.
Showers and easterlies could also hit Tauranga on Christmas Day, but it will also have a high of 25C and a 16C overnight low.
One of the main centres set for sun on December 25 was Wellington.
The capital is - according to predictions - in line for a dry day with a 22C high and a 14C low overnight.
Christchurch also looked set for a sunny day.
It is predicted to see a high of 23C with light winds, and could hit a low of 12C overnight.
Set for a dry day with light winds, Dunedin should have a high of 18C and an overnight low of 11C.
