One person is dead and three people injured after a two-vehicle head-on collision at Muriwai Rd, Auckland, at about 7.30pm this evening.

Two children were seriously injured and taken to Starship Children’s Hospital, one by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, the other by ambulance.

A spokesperson for the hospital said a 5-year-old child is in a critical but stable condition and the other, a 7-year-old, was in a serious but stable condition.

The third, an adult, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Auckland Hospital.

Police said Muriwai Rd would be closed until further notice. Police are currently talking to a third party in connection with the crash.
