England have won the Wellington leg of the IRB Sevens defeating gutsy crowd favourites Kenya in extra-time in a pulsating final.

Kenya looked to have the game won when they led by 19-12 with just seconds remaining.

But England managed to force a turnover and with Kenya down to five players a try was inevitable, and the English dotted down under the posts and converted to send the game into golden point extra-time.

And with Kenya forced to play extra-time still one man down an England try seemed inevitable and so it proved with England going over to score the tournament-winning try. 

Earlier, New Zealand finished third at after beating the other beaten Cup semifinalists Samoa in the third v fourth playoff.
