Police are appealing for information after an 8-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at Oreti Beach yesterday.
The incident occurred about 4pm, in sand dunes about 50 metres south of the beach's main entrance.
Police believe a male suspect was seen by children playing in the area at the time of the assault but are calling for assistance from members of the public who were at the beach yesterday.
