Two South Auckland men have been arrested and charged with murder following the death of Shalvin Prasad, the young man who was found burned to death just hours after he withdrew tens of thousands of dollars from his bank account.

The arrested men, aged 18 and 20, both from Papatoetoe, will appear in the Manukau District Court today and will be jointly charged with murder.

Prasad's family members were advised of the arrests last night.

Detective Inspector Dave Lynch said although police were pleased to have made early arrests there was still a lot of work to to do to complete the investigation and prepare the file for court.

Prasad's scorched body was discovered a fortnight ago following a small scrub fire on the side of McRobbie Rd in Kingseat, Auckland.

Police still wanted information concerning property belonging to Prasad.

This property included keys to his Toyota Rav4, a house key, a steering wheel lock key, his wallet, ASB eftpos card and driver's licence.

Prasad, 21, had saved the money withdrawn from his bank account over a long period.
