Outdoor education experiences are keeping Kaukapakapa students busy developing life skills.

Pupils from the middle school classes picked up plenty of tips during an overnight camp at the Peter Snell Youth Village.

They included abseiling, archery, initiative courses, bivouac building, Burma trail, frisbee golf and rock pool studies where they recognised, named and described the lives of a wide variety of intertidal life forms.

Senior classes have participated in a two-night adventure while junior classes will participate in overnight camps at school.

Teacher Caroline Armstrong says the school is very proud to still be offering outdoor education options to its students because of the wonderful experiences they learn from.

These feature following safe practices in the outdoor environment, encouraging active and skilled participation in outdoor education activities, developing personal social skills and caring for and protecting our environment.

"Camp provides students with memories that will last a lifetime as well as allowing us to see our students in a real life environment and seeing individual successes in some sometimes surprising places," says Ms Armstrong.
