Quiche lorraine, ratatouille or snails anyone?

French cuisine, language and culture was all go at a holiday programme at Taupaki Primary School last week.

Tutor Patsy Sackx is passionate about French immersion.

"I like to bring the whole culture in," Patsy says.

It's the Waimauku resident's third holiday programme with nine youngsters taking part over four days.

Morning sessions on language, games, music and etiquette were followed by afternoon cooking classes.

Patsy migrated from her French-speaking homeland of Belgium with her husband and two daughters nine years ago.

She has a marketing background but now enjoys running a language tuition company.

"When you come to a new country you need to adjust."

Patsy says it's great to see Kiwi kids enjoying the culture.

"For most of them it's new," Patsy says.

"But they're all foodies. And they make new friends as well."

Ten-year-old Chase Clayton says the food was tasty, especially the quiche she helped make.

"I don't really help cook at home," she says.

"But now I'm keen to have a go."

The Kumeu youngster also liked learning about French language.
