Look to the skies over Parakai for a fly-in of a kaleidoscope of aircraft on February 27.

The traditional event is one of the largest aviation events in the nor-west with up to 80 planes ranging from sport and restored vintage types to flying display aircraft and trial flights.

There will also be aircraft equipment, skydivers, a mystery guest aerobatics demonstration, drive-ins and trade displays.

For visiting aviators staying overnight, there are plenty of facilities including food and refreshments.Camping and backpacker accommodation is available.

Rain day is on Sunday, February 28.

Last year’s fly-in was low-key with only about 20 planes following postponement because of bad weather. However, a number of visitors still went for rides and enjoyed fly-pasts and skydiving demonstrations.

The event is from 10.30am to 3.30pm at Parakai Airfield, 76 Green Rd. Call (09)420-8010, Simon Lockie on 0800-Fly-West or email Simon@ParakaiAir
